Our playground. Our responsibility.

We’re committed to using business as a force for good – inspiring and living active lifestyles that matter.

OUR COMMITMENT

The world is our home and playground. We have a duty of care to play a role in protecting it, going about our business in a way that respects the people and animals we share the earth with. It’s why we created actionable commitments to be met across our entire group of brands.

  • INNOVATE QUALITY.

100% of our products will be made either entirely or partly from recycled or biodegradable materials by 2030. We’ll only use non-recyclable materials when it critically impacts the quality and durability of our product, and there are no feasible alternatives.

  • REVOLUTIONISE PACKAGING.

All of our primary packaging will be 100% non-biodegradable-plastic free by 2026. Where we use cardboard/paper, this will be 100% recyclable and FSC certified for 100% recycled content. By 2030, we also aim to have non-biodegradable-plastic eliminated from all of our secondary packaging as well.

  • SERVE OUR COMMUNITY.

100% of our team will dedicate a minimum of 1 work days of volunteer time per year to have a positive community impact. We will also ensure good – not just fair – conditions for workers in our supply chain.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Product

Products that are used and loved for a long time means less virgin materials are used long-term, resulting in reduced environmental impact. Anything we make should be high-quality and serve an ongoing function in active lifestyles. Choosing sustainable, non-toxic materials is a must, as long as it doesn’t hinder this first objective.

People

Good work is hard, so improvements only come when our team is passionate about making a difference. We want to inspire our crew - and everyone we deal with - to go the extra mile. They should be treated fairly and valued constantly.

Packaging

Wasteful packaging can do just as much, if not more, damage to the world than the products they protect. All of our packaging should therefore be designed with sustainable disposal at its absolute core.

OUR WINS

Proto™1.4 Surf Grip

This world-first traction radically reduces manufacturing waste while also improving performance. Using moulded technology, Creatures of Leisure was able to take a 67% wastage of materials to just 5% for this tail pad. EcoPure EVA means the traction itself - and any material waste - is also certified biodegradable at its end of life. A massive leap forward for Creatures and the surf industry as a whole.  We now plan to use this technology for every piece of surf traction in the Creatures range by 2025.

Staff Beach Clean Ups

To help make our home beaches even more pristine, our team engages in multiple beach clean ups each year. This hands-on effort also helps us engage intimately with the worldwide issue of plastic pollution, driving motivation for our efforts to eliminate plastic in our packaging, and use biodegradable alternatives in our products wherever it makes sense.

Eco-Acetate & Eco-Grilamid Eyewear

As of 2024, every frame in the OTIS Eyewear range is now made from either EcoAcetate, which is certified biodegradable, or EcoGrilamid, which uses majority plant-based materials for production. OTIS’s signature mineral glass lenses are also made from natural materials which are non-toxic and endlessly recyclable.

OUR CERTIFICATIONS

The Leisure Collective is proudly to be B Corp certified, using business as a force for good in the world.

As part of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation, The Leisure Collective has a clear roadmap to improve the sustainability of our packaging not just for our home country, but around the world. In 2023, we achieved APCO’s highest certification ‘beyond best practice’. Despite this honour, we’re still committed to continually improve our efforts here.
